The Smurfs. Not every grownup’s favorite cartoon of yesteryear, but it was a certified staple of many a kid’s Saturday Morning Cartoons lineup for quite some time during the 80s. Just like many other franchises before it, The Smurfs is getting the 3D treatment and being brought to the big screen.
Take a look at the first full theatrical trailer to the upcoming movie. Featuring Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria and Jayma Mays in live action, the movie also features a slew of voice talent, including George Lopez, Jonathan Winters, Alan Cumming, Anton Yelchin, Katy Perry, Fred Armisen, Kenan Thompson and others.
Granted, this thing doesn’t look like it will be the best movie of the summer, but it may just strike the right tough of nostalgia for parents while entertaining their kids. And Hank Azaria looks like he just may be funny as Gargamel.
Synopsis:
When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours — in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.
